FinalFix Advanced Fixative

No more framing under glass! FinalFix is a casein-based spray fixative which contains beeswax and a few other natural ingredients to help the casein harden to a tough, moisture resistant finish. It is very similar to the Degas fixative, but provides a slightly deeper, semi-matte finish, and allows for damp cleaning and durable scuff-resistance. FinalFix contains beeswax and provides a slightly slicker surface than our Degas fixative, so if you desire plenty of traction to layer deeply, the Degas may be your best choice.
Perfect for a final protective layer, or to be used throughout your project. Non-yellowing formula is all-natural with no fumes and is workable and archival. Combines well with all drawing (not oil pastel) and painting media and may be used after SpectraFix Degas fixative, or by itself. Works beautifully to bring out depth in gouache paintings, and to finish mixed media works, or try brushing on our Natural Glass Varnish and Medium. Please be aware that the non-drying mineral oils in oil pastels do not combine well with beeswax, and we suggest the Degas fixative for oil pastels, which works beautifully. FinalFix should not be used as a final layer on top of acrylic or oil paintings, unless sealed with a final layer of acrylic or oil varnish. This is because it absorbs atmospheric moisture and acrylics and oils do not, and as a result it is possible that it may eventually delaminate from their surfaces.Select options This product has multiple variants. Get your TRACTION back! InstaGrit can be applied by brush to precise areas in your colored pencil, graphite or pastel drawings which have become slick from heavy application and will no longer accept more media. Dries transparent and invisible, but magically picks up color as soon as you pass your pencil over it. InstaGrit is very thin, and does not leave heavy texture marks, instead it dries perfectly flat, giving you a receptive surface without unwanted texture. Works on most supports including all papers, panels, canvas etc. Use InstaGrit for detailed additions or corrections, it can be tinted with watercolor paint to provide a toned background, or paint it on panels or paper for a gritted surface. When applied on top of Natural Glass it permits intricate layering with pencil, pastel or other drawing media, which can then be fixed and sealed.
May be used with graphite pencil to create rich, dark blacks.. much blacker than you can normally achieve just by pressing harder.
Stir very well before using to lift grit sediment into solution.

Natural Glass Spray Varnish

Our 10 oz refillable aerosol gives a fine spray with a minimum of effort, and the nozzle can easily be cleaned if material should dry in the orifice.
Natural Glass is a revolutionary new water-based bio-polymer varnish and painting medium made from milk casein and beeswax, with a few other natural ingredients added to help it remain flexible and tough. Fast drying to a water-resistant, semi-gloss film, Natural Glass works beautifully as a varnish or medium for all painting and drawing media (not oil pastel), and on virtually all supports, including canvas, paper, Yupo, ceramic, stone, glass, leather, fabric (not washable), wood, gourds, jewelry and other materials. It can be re-worked, removed, painted over, layered or used as pouring medium. The dried surface remains wonderfully non-sticky to the touch, and does not require Glassine or other separating films to prevent two coated pieces from sticking together. It may be gently wiped with a lightly dampened cloth to remove dust or soil.

SpectraFix Degas Fixative is made with casein, water and alcohol and is based on an antique recipe used by French Impressionist painter, Edgar Degas. It seals and protects your artwork while leaving your colors brilliant, and best of all.. there are no toxic fumes or odors! Spray indoors and continue working at your easel without concern. Perfect for chemically-sensitive people. Dries quickly to an invisible matte finish and is fully reworkable, allowing deep layering as well as providing extra traction on thickly layered, slippery media such as color pencil or oil pastel. Combines well with almost all media, and dries to a hard, water-resistant finish. This fixative is not intended to be used as a final top coat over acrylic or oil paint, but can be layered into multi-media and then sealed with an acrylic or oil paint varnish.May be used on all papers, sueded or gritted paper (not LaCarte), primed and unprimed canvas, wood panels, unglazed ceramic, stone, leather, glass, etc..
Use with Soft Pastel, Pan Pastel and Oil Pastel, Colored Pencil, Graphite, Charcoal, Chalk or in combination with Watercolor, Gouache, Casein, Ink or to layer other media into Encaustic. SpectraFix Concentrate is perfect for artists wishing to control the casein or alcohol content of their fixative, or for use as a painting medium to mix directly with pigments. Made from the same ingredients as the Degas Fixative, our Concentrate only requires that you add a clear alcohol such as vodka, and you are ready to spray your fixative! The label is marked with 1/2 oz (15ml) guidelines on the back, to make measuring easy. Purchase our optional 4 oz Empty Spray Bottle, pour in 1/2 oz (15ml) Concentrate and then fill with clear alcohol. Makes up to 16 oz (480 ml) total.
