SpectraFix Degas Fixative Concentrate
Mixing SpectraFix Concentrate is easy! Follow these steps to ensure a perfect spray mixture:
Quick Mixing Instructions:
- Combine Ingredients: Pour 1/4 bottle of SpectraFix Concentrate into the provided 4 fl oz spray bottle.
- Add Alcohol: Fill the rest with alcohol (see recommendations below).
- Shake to Mix: Give it a light shake—and you’re ready to spray!
Alcohol Recommendations:
-
Best Choices: Use a clear, colorless, unsweetened alcoholic spirit like vodka, gin, grappa, or Everclear.
- Vodka: Widely available and typically 40% alcohol—ideal for general use.
- Stronger Alcohol (for example, 90% Everclear): Dilute with 1/3 water for faster evaporation or when working on thinner papers.
Important Mixing Tips:
-
Test First! Pour a small amount of alcohol (about 1/4 tsp or a few mL) into a clear glass and add a dash of concentrate.
- Ideal Result: If it mixes into a smooth, milky solution, it’s good to go.
- Avoid if Clumps Appear: If white clumps form and sink, that alcohol isn’t suitable—try a different brand.
-
Isopropyl (Rubbing) Alcohol: Rubbing alcohol can work, but may sometimes cause casein to clump due to acidic additives. Follow the same testing steps as above.
- Dilution Guide: For 91% isopropyl, dilute with 1/2–1/3 water to achieve a 45–60% alcohol solution.
Following these steps will ensure a smooth, reliable spray mix every time!
